“I have struggled with insomnia on and off since I was a teenager. The feeling and frustration of wanting to sleep, but being unable to do so is one I am intimately familiar with. Lying awake at night, I only confront myself.”

I heard the ceiling whisper is a story about insomnia and about a time where Gwen struggled with sleeping, laying awake at night and being confronted with herself. She took emotional images that jump from beautiful to scary, from comforting to discomforting. The sequence plays with this unrythmic rythm of being awake and asleep and most importantly not being sure of what state you are in. It is a personal starting point to a story that many people share. It is one that needs to be treated with care and patience.
